Many of you will probably recognize the setup of this one, taken from a photograph from Monty Sloan (of Wolf Park). This was a quick and painful painting I did for my husband's birthday, which was somehow completed in a week. He's the black wolf, I'm the brown one :)

Inspired by several things, including the fine art impressionist painter Renoir and some videos I watched of bobcats recently. I also was trying to, for lack of better words, "sculpt" my subject with a pencil on paper. Drawn with a 2B graphite pencil. Inspiration hit me in the wee hours of yesterday morning and I drew this that night- also into the wee hours. But- gotta love it when artistic inspiration hits!

Another piece for the AFF art show! Did this one in acrylics with some coloured pencil touchups. I'm really starting to like what I can do with acrylics, I fear I'm getting rusty at watercolours. ^^ This piece also serves a double purpose as an art show piece, and as a (late) school assignment. The only stipulation what that it had to be a relatively realistically rendered piece in acrylic, subject matter and everything else was up to me. copyright to Katie Hofgard

Window to Winter by Wolf Nymph

Here is this year's christmas card design for my family, featuring Wolfy! (of course) I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but my mom basically told me what she wanted to see specifically in this piece. I tried to work this from an illustrator's standpoint, going through thumbnails and colour studies and whatnot... I think it turned out well overall. I did struggle with making it look like he was looking out a window without showing the window frame itself, but I don't think I could have "zoomed in" as much as my mom wanted if I showed the window frame. I put more effort into this christmas card design because I wanted to show off my art skills to my family. ALSO (the reason I put a lot of effort into this).... I'm going to donate the framed original to Eskie rescuers United ( http://www.eskierescuers.org/ ) if they will take it. If not, I'm going to try and sell it myself and donate the proceeds to them directly. Copyright to Katie Hofgard
